foot stools a winner...

Good morning,

Welcome to another crazy week here at Two Worlds.

Well we have the truck coming this Wednesday to finally collect all the left over furniture here at the little Brisbane bayside workers cottage.
A bed and dresser is going to Mum's where I and boy teenager will be staying {not that he's ever home} while I'm still doing some work here in Brissy. The rest is heading up to the house up the Sunshine Coast.
I'm handing the key in on the 1st July...and it's then goodbye to the little house I've lived in since 2000.
Blogging hasn't come easy the last few weeks but hopefully when things settle down a bit I can be back visiting all your lovely sites and posting a few of my own adventures and projects.

Speaking of projects, my retro foot stools I covered and posted about last week featured on fabric traders blog as this weeks customer creation winner.
Yay!...I won a $20.00 voucher to go toward my next purchase from the wonderful online store.
Think I might make some new cushions for my old white couch heading up to it's new home up north...

Loving Chevron design at the moment and fabric traders have a lot to choose from.

Here's the stools if you missed them last week.

Have a lovely week all.

retro foot stools...

It's always exciting when a project turns out exactly how you imagined it, when everything goes to plan and there are no hiccups along the way...

This is how my latest makeover went. I picked up these somewhat tired foot stools from our local tip shop for $10.00 each, not really knowing what I was going to do with them, so they sat under the house for a few months until my creative juices decided to flow.

I purchased from Beach Vintage fabric traders some groovy retro style material to replace the ugly white vinyl. The fabric is 'cool carmody in Kiwi green'.

Removing the old staples let me tell you was a mission but persistence paid off and before long all the vinyl was removed.

I sanded the timber base which was coated in a rather orange toned varnish and decided just to apply a natural bees wax instead of painting them...{ I've come to the realisation, not everything has to be painted}. I also thought I'd keep the legs in their darker original state...{for now!}

Covering the seat part was fairly straight forward using an upholstery staple gun. A neutral cream linen was used underneath to hide the edges and the hollow...{which I didn't photograph but looked very professional I must say}.

The end result...two funky foot stools to add to our rumpus room.

lakeside dreaming...

Happy Wednesday to all my blogging friends and followers. I hope your day is going well so far...
...mine is... as guess what?
I have the day off...!

Yipee, my first week day off in months and I can tell you I am in much need of it.

Lately I have been working up to 45 hrs per week between two jobs...one in Brisbane and one at Noosa...as well as driving up and down that Bruce Hwy every week.
I am feeling well and truly burnt out.

Time for a little Lakeside dreaming...

Last weekend we visited Boreen Point a sleepy little village on Lake Cootharaba, behind Noosa.

A place where locals leave their fishing boats and kayaks nestled in amongst the reeds...

...where the pelicans perch on jetty's and house boats and glide peacefully across the glassy Lake.

...where professional sign writers are extinct...

I'm spending today doing some final packing and cleaning as I will be vacating this Brisbane worker's cottage by the end of the month...
If you have followed along with my blog you will know I have been living in 'Two World's' for 18 months now... travelling between our home on the Sunshine Coast and a rental in Brisbane...where I have remained due to teenagers and work commitments...
...But I'm finally letting go...of the rental that is...{I'm moving a bed to Mum's while I still work 2 days in Brisbane...so I'm still travelling....}

...back to the Lake...

Mangrove roots grotesquely beautiful...

Raindrops on pine needles...

Looks like a great place for a spot of fishing...

A local Bed and Breakfast...

Lichen covered boat shed...

The all important coffee stop...

Some visiting South Sea Island lads were demonstrating their canoe building talents...

Local accommodation...

Garden shed with shower attached...

Garden ornaments...

Lakeside colour...

How's the serenity??

Loving the washed out patina on the bottom of this boat...

Looks like this girl has seen better days...

I really love the slow pace of Boreen Point, it's definitely what I needed to chill out.

Have a lovely day today....think I'll head down to my local coffee house and grab a take away before I get stuck into the packing.

wonders on the lake...

Good morning all,

Saturday brought a considerably mild and still but drizzly first day of Winter. I never mind the soft rains in winter here in Queensland as it keeps the overnight and early morning temperatures a lot warmer than if the skies were clear and blue.....and I don't do cold very well at all!

With umbrellas packed, my partner and I set off to Boreen Point at Lake Cootharaba to view this years 'Floating Land' event.
This is one of Australia's leading 'green art' events promoting environmental awareness through the arts.
It attracts local, national and international artists.

Here are a few of the works we spotted on the Lake.
Visit 'Floating Land' to learn more about each piece and the event itself.

Amazing pieces all with an interesting story behind them and representing a strong environmental message.

Have a great week.
